Okay so I didn’t really see myself seeing this one, I mean I really wanted to go see it but to me this is one of the films where I can wait to get it on DVD, but since there was absolutely nothing up at my local cinema this was the film that stood out to us, so I went with some friends and watched what I thought was a suprisinlgy awesome movie.
The whole movie follows a teen called Eggsy (no idea where the nickname originated from) anyway we follow him and after he gets the news that his father has died while on an assignment he gets a visit from a guy called Galahad (Colin Firth) who I have to say played this part really well, well Galahad works for a secret spy agency called The Kingsman, they are trying to stop a guy called Richmond Valentine (Samuel L Jackson) and I have to say he played the villain really well, any way Valentine has made a new SIM card for people that is inserted into your noggin (sounds painful) but what happens to this SIM card is pretty grim but let’s not jump ahead.
Now we see Eggsy go through some ruthless training drills, that in my opinion give the James Bond films a run for their money, so Galahad goes to valentines house for a gala he is hosting and realizes he is the only one there (turns out he made a big donation) so after a dinner Galahad goes back to his office to see if he found anything suspicious, and the only thing he can find is is a cult hate church in Kentucky so he goes and investigates (and cue one of the most epic fight scenes in a movie) Galahad sits and watches the priest say his things and gets up to leave but is stopped in his tracks by a woman asking why he is leaving so early to which he replies in one of the most greatest comebacks ever “I’m a Catholic whore, currently enjoying congress out of wedlock with my black Jewish boyfriend who works at a military abortion clinic. Hail Satan, and have a lovely afternoon madam” and cue one of the best fights ever, the whole church suddenly has the most violent punch up ever all to the tune of Lynrd Skynrds free bird (now to me that sounds pretty fucking awesome.) anyway after the punch up Galahad comes out and meets Valentine, Valentine then shoots Galahad in the head killing him (I did tell you there were spoilers)
So as the film goes on Valentine has a base somewhere Eggsy and another trainee go there, they see what old Mr Valentine has planned (a massive culling of the human race using the SIM cards implanted in your noggin) so Eggsy has to dress like Galahad and goes to stop Valentine with his dastardly plan, now it all goes swimmingly until Eggsy gets cornered by a massive parade of guards, Eggsy tells a guy who had trained him to activate the security protocol (now this is probably the best bit of the film that and the church fight) once activated all the guards heads explode all the the tune of pomp and circumstance (land of hope and glory) now I have never laughed so hard in the cinema before but I almost wet myself at this bit, well after that happens they finally catch up with Valentine but as they get there he activates his culling device and before you know it give it up by Kool and the gang blares out and everyone around the world starts beating everyone up, and I mean the entire world goes to shit.
Well they manage to stop it but valentines phones a satellite to help with the culling device, as that’s counting down Eggsy has a fight with valentines henchwoman called gazelle who for a weapon has prosthetic feet with blades on shoes, Eggsy kills her with a blade concealed in his shoe, eggsybthen kills Valentine and the whole world lives happily ever after yay.
So my thoughts on Kingsman, well I thought it was hilarious I mean really laugh out loud hilarious it’s by the same guy who died kick-ass so the OTT violence wasn’t much of a suprise, but how the fighting scenes were filmed were fantastic I mean they had slow mo shots everytime someone got hit with something and then sped up as soon as they hit the floor, I mean it was fantastic, overall I would give Kingsman as solid 9/10 mainly because it did get a bit dull at some points but nonetheless it was fantastic, so what are you waiting for go and see Kingsman and tell me your thoughts until next time catch you later.
